(Not pictured is participant Chelsea Ross.) Janet Beasley attends the Thursday evening workshops via Skype.
The popular Young Adult Writers Group, led by the dynamic sister duo of Janet Beasley and Dar Bagby, will be starting again on Thursday, October 10 at 7 p.m. at the Pickford Community Library, 230 E. Main Street. This year there will be two separate courses: one for “newbies” and one for “returning authors.”
Last year the group published an impressive e-book on smashwords.com, the “2012-2013 Pickford Young Writers Workshop Anthology, Short Stories and Poetry.”
Any young adult interested in learning the “inside scoop” of writing and being published is welcome to attend.
Janet Beasley, author of the “Hidden Earth” series, a six-volume set of inspirational fantasy novels, and her sister, Dar Bagby, illustrator and editor, will share what they have learned about breaking into the literary world, and they look forward to helping young writers who either currently have a work in progress or would like to get started on a book of their own but don’t know where to begin.
Janet, who lives in Florida, and Dar, who lives in Brimley, have been working together via email, phone, computer file-sharing services, and Skype for a couple of years. These venues have proven to be more than sufficient for their long-distance team effort.
At the Thursday evening library workshops, Janet appears on Skype so she can interact with the young writers in real time.
Because of her association with authors around the world, Janet has a wealth of information at her fingertips and loves sharing it with prospective young writers. Dar, an English language specialist, works with teens regarding proofreading and self-editing. She also shares her experiences in the field of illustrating.
Janet and Dar will present these workshops on every other Thursday (working around holidays).
For more information on the programs, please contact Pickford Community Library Manager Ann Marie Smith at (906) 647-1288 or email@example.com.

BOOKTOBERFEST is coming!
Authors in the Park is coming to historic Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora. On Saturday, October 5th, JLB Creatives presents Authors in the Park – Booktoberfest from 2PM to 5PM on the lawn in front of the quaint town’s iconic landmark.
Booktoberfest combines a traditional German Oktoberfest and an old-fashioned Halloween Costume Contest with the imagination and creativity of twenty local authors. Host Lakeside Inn will make available authentic German food and beverage. There will be music and more fun. All of the participating authors will be appearing in costume, dressed as one of the characters from their huge variety of books.
Those authors include: Janet Beasley; John J. Browne y Ayes; Maria Cox; Lisa DeMarco; Donna DeVito; Wendy Dingwall; Dr. Les Hardin; Tawdra Kandle; Jean E. Lane; Rebekah Lyn; De Miller; Mark Miller; Olivia Miller; Theresa Oliver; Keith Rommel; Tony Vincent; Elise VanCise; Pennie Whitt; Ed Wysocki and Randa Zollinger.
JLB Creatives president Janet Beasley says, “Lakeside Inn is such an incredible host. We are honored to be a new part of their 130 year history. You won’t find better service or a friendlier staff anywhere.”
The Lakeside Inn, along with a few others, are contributing to the prize pack for the costume contest. Contest details can be found at www.AuthorsinthePark.com or www.FB.com/AuthorsInThePark. Guests are encouraged to come in costume. To be eligible for the grand prize, guest must be dressed as one of the characters listed on the Authors in the Park website.
“This is a totally unique event,” says Jean E. Lane. “Guests will have the opportunity to dress as a character from a book by the author they are meeting at Booktoberfest.”
The presenting authors represent a wide spectrum of books from non-fiction to children’s picture books, from Florida history to Earth’s future. The authors themselves include Best-Sellers, Award-Winners, a direct descendant of Ponce de Leon and movie makers and more.
Mark Miller, public relations and media specialist for JLB Creatives, says, “Our events are not only a reader’s paradise, but also a family fun event. We’ve had art shows, church picnics and now two October parties in one. It is especially fun for me as I will be flanked by my daughter and father, both accomplished authors in their own right.”
Because October is also recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness month, Farley Frigeration of Astatula will be on hand raising funds for the Susan G. Komen foundation.
Janet Beasley says, “JLB Creatives’ goal is two-fold. We want to promote local and independent authors and, at the same time, give back to our community. Mount Dora is such a wonderful, supportive place. If we can help bring in literacy and raise awareness for worthy causes, then that is only a small way in which we can repay this great city.”
JLB Creatives, with support from Arts for the Community (a non-profit based in Mount Dora), is actively seeking sponsors for future events and other activities. They are involved with the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce and other merchant associations. Please contact them through the website to arrange an author appearance at your event or organization.
Volume 1 Maycly Receives 5 stars from Reader's Favorite
August 6, 2013
Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' FavoriteHidden Earth Series Volume 1: Maycly the Trilogy Part 1 by Janet Beasley is about Iona who finds herself thrown into circumstances much against her will. While you are getting acquainted with her, the story takes a turn back in time. The reader is taken to Maycly where everyone is waiting hopefully for the queen's arrival. Part I of the story actually leads you to Part 2 of the book.
I found the book scintillating. Adventure, magic, whimsy, dreams, fantasy, imagination -- it's all there. Children of the current generation are totally into adventure and fantasy series with the overwhelming popularity of Harry Potter and the like. These are stories that can actually awaken the creativity inside you and dare you to dream and fantasize.
The book is the right combination of fantasy and adventure. Iona is well depicted: her innocence, her adventures, her faith, and tragedies. The language is elegant and excellent. Illustrations always give a new meaning to the characters and these illustrations also give you an idea of how each character looks as well as lending color to the story.
The open ending of the book suggests that there will be another part to it. The battle between good and evil is the highlight of the story. Will Iona's journey be even more adventurous in the next part?

Idol finalist David Oliver Willis to perform opening song for locally produced
Christian movie, “A Letter for Joe”
Principal photography for the locally-produced Christian-themed
feature film, “A Letter for Joe” has wrapped, the film’s director, De Miller,
said today. Miller also announced that American Idol finalist David Oliver
Willis has been signed to perform the opening song for the movie.
“We have been blessed from start to finish in this project and landing
David for the opening song is just the icing on the cake,” Miller said. Willis,
who will be leaving soon for auditions for the 2013-14 season of American Idol,
will be recording his vocal of an original song for the movie next week. The Mount Dora native made it
to the final “lightning round” of this year’s A.I. competition, before being
Miller, who’s Mount Dora-based film company, Lazarus Filmworks,
wrapped filming on the feature with two big scenes involving nearly 100 extras
and several dozen classic cars.
“One of the big blessings on this project has been the cooperation of
our growing list of host churches,” Miller, who wrote and directed the film,
said. “Our last two big scenes were filmed at the First Baptist Churches of
Umatilla and Eustis and they came out great.”
Host churches for the movie include the two First Baptist churches in
Umatilla and Eustis, The First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora and
Adventure Christian church in Tavares.
The façade of the new Events Center at the First
Baptist Church of Umatilla served as the exterior of Las Vegas’ McCarran
Airport Terminal. The scene involved nearly 100 extras as both arriving and
departing airport “passengers”. To help make the scene look more authentic, because
the film is set in 1970, the production was aided by more than a dozen classic
cars and featured a 1946 Ford “Woody” as the Caesar’s Palace shuttle. The Woody
is owned by Mount Dora resident Bill
The final “big” scene, which also involved several dozen extras, was
filmed at the guest services area of the First Baptist Church of Eustis. The
area doubled as the lobby of Howard Hughes’ Las Vegas “home”, the old
“We could not have asked for better locations,” Miller said. “The new
building at First Baptist Umatilla looked like a big airport terminal entrance
and the guest services area at First Baptist Eustis looked like it was built
just for us. We got to use the Umatilla facility before it was even open for
Willis, who, along with his wife, Olivia, set about opening the Mount Dora Coffee House & Bistro when he returned
to the area after being eliminated on Idol, said he was “thrilled to record for
a Letter for Joe”.
The Willis’s hope to get the shop, located at 342 Dora Drawdy Way in downtown Mount Dora, operating without their
constant presence soon because they intend to be very busy on American Idol
again this season.
Miller said, beside the participation
of David Oliver Willis, the cast of “A Letter for Joe” was blessed with not
only talented locals, but also name cast members and even has an international actor
Gena Burghoff, daughter of television icon, Gary Burghoff, flew in to Mount Dora in May to join
the cast, playing the part of Howard Hughes’ secretary. Brazilian actor and
producer, Regis Terencio also flew in to the area to act in the final scene at
the Desert Inn lobby (aka the First Baptist Church of Eustis).
Miss Burghoff, who has been acting since she was 15 years old, has
done numerous television commercials and stage plays, and debuted in her Emmy-award
winning father’s 1995 family movie, “Behind the Waterfall”.
Terencio, of San Paolo, Brazil,
has appeared in numerous film and television productions in his native Brazil,
was in the United States to film “Abound”, a finalist in the upcoming 168 Film
Project Festival when he agreed to come to central Florida to play the role of
a Brazilian businessman. He also recently starred in and produced the latest
music video for South American Christian artist, Melissa Otto.
The local film, a 1970 version of the Bible story of Joseph, stars
local actor, Evan Schwalb, who recently graduated from and was a stand-out
athlete and scholar at Mount Dora High School, as the lead
character, Joseph Roberts. Mount Dora actor and one of
the movie’s Executive Producers , Jeff Wise also stars as reclusive billionaire
Howard Hughes. Schwalb’s real life brother, Neil Schwalb, stars as his
on-screen brother, Dennis Roberts. Wade Lopes of Mount Dora, Rey’von Miller of
Clermont and Miller, round out that cast.
Miller said the production is now in the editing stage. He said he
plans to have a finished version in time to enter this fall’s San Diego
Christian Film Festival. The company’s 2012 short film, “Deserted” received an
Honorable Mention in last year’s festival. Miller said local composer, Michael
Pflug, who will be doing the soundtrack for the film, is “chomping at the bit”
to get started on the music. “So that will keep us on track to get the final
edit done, I am sure.”

JLB Creatives becomes member of
When JLB Creatives put together their inaugural executive team in December 2012, great things began to happen. With the success of the first ever Authors in the Park Event ~ Christmas Spectacular came the birth of bigger and more extraordinary things.
The JLB Creatives Executive Team Members banned together and began to not only throw their ideas on the table, but bring them to fruition. After their one event they have since developed an annual schedule of 4 themed Authors in the Park Events, created Lit Wits Educational Review and Critique Sessions for aspiring writers, put together an array of JLB Creatives services for authors, and will be exhibiting at book festivals such as the UCF Book Festival in Orlando, Florida, and the Florida Heritage Book Festival in St. Augustine, Florida.
They have been welcomed with opened arms in Mount Dora, Florida. "We couldn't be happier to be able to call Mount Dora 'home,' for JLB Creatives, and all it has to offer to guests from around the world," said JLBC Executive Team Member author Mark Miller. Miller went on to say, "It's like adopting another family filled with members who cheer you on and support you in your business and artistry endeavors.
"When we approached the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce we were elated with the warm personality of the staff, and knew instantly we wanted to be a part of this group," said JLBC Executive Team Member author Jean E. Lane.
Owner founder of JLB Creatives, author Janet Beasley added, "It was an honor and a thrill to receive our packet in the mail announcing we had been accepted into the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce. We are looking forward with excitement at the opportunities of being a chamber member of such a prestigious group. We're certain membership will bring good things to JLB Creatives, and even better. . .in return we want to do as much as we can in return to other members."
Look for JLB Creatives to become a regular name among the best Mount Dora, Florida has to offer. JLBC's passion to help artists from around the world is contagious, and their professionalism is backed up nicely with a quaint home-town feel, two of Mount Dora's businesses best qualities.

Pickford Young Writers Workshop
The Pickford Community Library will host a Book Release Soireé on May 2 at 7:00 pm at the library celebrating the publication of short stories and poetry by six Pickford high-school students. The workshop participants, Jessica Arman, Katie Arman, Taylor Green, Amy Lehigh, Chelsea Ross, and Bailey West will be honored at the soireé. The public is welcome. Refreshments will be furnished by The Friends of Pickford Community Library.
The teens' works have been published as an e-anthology by JLB Creatives Publishing, available free of charge online. “The students are amazing,” said Ann Marie Smith, Library Manager. “Their creativity, scholarship, and dedication to their craft are boundless. We are honored to have this opportunity to showcase their creative visions. We foresee great futures for them in the literary world.”
The e-anthology, 2012-2013 Pickford Young Writers Workshop Anthology of Short Stories and Poetry, was proposed and developed under the professional guidance of author Janet Beasley of Florida and local fantasy illustrator/editor Dar Bagby of Brimley, the gifted sister team of the Hidden Earth series www.hiddenearthseries.com.
“Instead of self-publishing, our workshop participants are being published by a legitimate publishing company, a reward few writers accomplish at their age. Being represented by a publisher is a major step in becoming a recognized author,” Dar said.
According to Smith, “The library's mission is to unite diverse groups in the community with enriching cultural experiences. They [Janet and Dar] are trailblazers who have developed an innovative outreach program in creative writing that gives students real insights into the world of publishing.”

Pre-Orders Already Coming In!
"More Than Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup"
After day 1 of pre-orders for the Maycly cookbook, "More Than Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup," Author Janet Beasley and her sis, Illustrator Dar Bagby, couldn't be happier! Orders have started coming in, and they are gearing up to blast the news to the masses over the next two weeks.
"We've been waiting a long time for this one to come out. Just about the time we thought it was ready, I'd mess things up and ask for more changes!" says Author Janet Beasley. "I wanted it to be more than just a cookbook. I wanted it to be...well...epic!" She laughed.
And this cookbook is nothing shy of epic. From its over 300 recipes to its amazing looking menus, and from simple things for kids to make to feeling like a gourmet chef you'll find something for everyone...even the dog! The character histories and stories along with the numerous black and white photos make this cookbook a different "Joy of Cooking." It's a book you can read before, during, and after making any one of the fully preparable and edible recipes right here on Earth.
"If you've not read Maycly, Volume 1 the triology in the Hidden Earth Series, you'll still enjoy the cookbook. And I'm betting you'll want a copy of Maycly to read once you dive into this amazing kitchen "utensil," said Illustrator Dar Bagby. "You'll also find a couple of new illustrations by yours truly along with the photos. There's a mish mash of photos from Janet's Scenic Nature Photography along with several "stills" I took to help make the cooking experience even better."
If you'd like to pre-order a copy, simply visit the Hidden Earth Series website for details and placing your order.

"Photographing nature in its natural state is my second passion. Janet was quick to add, "And it's always my pleasure to bring a smile to at least one face each day. That's the main goal behind my photos...sharing smiles with the world by capturing Mother Nature's best moments."

Please surround our brothers and sisters with prayer as they go through the tremendous flooding, weather, and loss of life. Bible Study Verses
There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the LORD your God has not appointed such for you. (NKJV)
Years ago many a deer hunt was right before Halloween. As a kid couldn't be at two places at one time, so I went hunting.
One Halloween we were butchering 3 deer in one evening. Unfortunately we ran out of butcher paper, so I ran to pick more up at the store. The other two men couldn't keep butchering and answer the door to pass out candy so they ended visitation. They place a deer head with its horns sawed off at the end of the driveway until I found it in my returning headlights.
As I removed the scary creature to oblivion I promised myself that we'd never butcher another deer on Halloween with the butcher boys again. It worked as a fright, not one child or teenager came up to the porch after that display. It's unsettling to think what the neighbors might have thought or the nightmares created.
Just as the butcher boys made a poor choice on deflecting visitation, it brings to mind the verse that says, "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea," Matthew 18:6 (NKJV). Hopefully they didn't cause a frightened little one to sin. But how many of our poor choices caused another to stumble? The above scripture is pretty clear on what any of us should not be doing within the spiritual realm. Notice "one who practices witchcraft" has no exceptions for white, black, or Wicca. We're to walk in HIS light and with our faith in JESUS CHRIST not by what today's horoscope reflects.
The final tests are to take every thought captive to Christ and line up every question to GOD's Living Holy WORD. We become free in CHRIST when we bow at HIS throne and humbly ask for HIS forgiveness no matter what has been in the past!!!
Sportsmen's Tip of the Day
By cutting up our own deer, we diligently removed all fat before packaging. The strong gamey taste was removed with the fat. Many a chuckle was created when friends enjoyed the steak that couldn't have been wild game meat.

Local Authors Meet
Local central Florida authors meet for cake and coffee...but there was more to it than just that! Fact/Fiction Sci-Fi author Jean E. Lane and inspirational epic fantasy author Janet Beasley have started meeting the first and third Monday of every month to discuss fresh new ways to not just promote their books, but also to develop ways to help upcoming authors in this new crazy mixed up literary world.
Jean E. is the author of the Lill and Mewe Series. Jean E. has extreme talent when it comes to mixing fact with fiction. Kids (and adults) have fun learning while following the adventures of this Martian family. Jean E. is a traditionally published author. She came to Janet's company, JLB Creatives, for consultation regarding the "social networking" side of authorship.
After showing such enthusiasm regarding her passion in the field, Janet invited Jean E. to join the JLB Creatives team. Jean E. accepted, and has since become the source and contact for all things literary they can attend to speak at, exhibit, or facilitate. She is a wealth of information regarding upcoming conventions and trade show opportunities for this new dynamic duo of authors to pursue.
Janet Beasley is the author of the Hidden Earth Series. Her talent lies within her fantastical imagination when it comes to the ability to bring fairy tales to life. She is the founder of JLB Creatives, a company designed to help authors, traditionally published or self-published, get a grip on social media networking, spark creative ideas, and give promotional guidance. "It's authors helping authors," says Janet. Jean E. couldn't agree more.
They are looking forward to an exciting 2013, so be sure to keep tabs on them as their "live appearance" schedule begins to post.

Pickford Community Library
Teen Writers Group
Author Janet Beasley and illustrator Dar Bagby, the sister team of inspirational epic fantasy adventure, were invited by head librarian Ann Marie Smith to host a teen writers group which is being held at the Pickford Community Library in Pickford, Michigan every other Thursday.
Ann Marie has worked with Janet and Dar in the past, and found them to be a confident force within the literary world. Janet's debut novel in the Hidden Earth Series, Maycly Parts 1, 2, and 3, is already pushing the charts with nearly 1500 sold since its release February 26, 2012.
"The first meeting was fantastic!" said author Janet Beasley. She continued, "These kids are hungry to learn the craft, and are willing to do what it takes. It's always great to find future authors with such passion."
"With Janet there "live" on Skype, it makes it a wonderful opportunity to hear both our 'sides of the story' when it comes to the gamut of the writing world," said illustrator Dar Bagby. She continued to say, "I bring the 'nuts and bolts' (as Janet likes to call them) to the table. That meaning I do all of her professional editing and proof-reading in addition to all of the illustrations. Janet brings a fantastical imagination, and thrives on helping others become creative geniuses."

The Hidden Earth Series Team
Pickford High School, Pickford Michigan
Author Janet Beasley and Dar Bagby were invited to speak to an elite group of writing students at the Pickford High School in Pickford, Michigan. The students were treated to pizza and soft drinks before the real fun began.
Dar Bagby lives in Brimley Michigan and appeared in person. Author Janet Beasley, living in Florida, was there "live" through Skype. Together this amazing sister team showed videos, answered questions, and shared their writing experiences with these future writers.
The invitation came through the Pickford High School English Teacher, Melanie Bolton.
"The kids were great! They were enthusiastic, and the pool of talent they possess is massive," said author Janet Beasley. Dar Bagby added, "It's always a treat to get to teach and help those who hold the same interests you do, because they have no trouble sharing a common enthusiasm with you."
Janet and Dar have become known as the sister team. They've not let the miles between them dampen their sisterly bond. In fact, they both agreed it most likely helps pull them closer as a superb literary team. "Yeah, it's nice being apart (most of the time) that way we don't get in each other's hair!" Janet said. Dar replied, "Yeah...because you know who those younger sisters can be!" Both laughed and shared a digital hug across the miles.

Leesburg Local Author Showcase
October 15, 2012
Author Janet Beasley was one of 30 select authors to make an appearance at this October's Author Showcase. Janet, along with the other authors had the opportunity to present their talent to the masses of readers who stopped by the Leesburg Public Library located in the historic district on Main Street in Leesburg, FL.
The theme of the showcase was Inspirational topics. Readers were introduced to a vast array of inspiration from true stories to sci-fi/fantasy and beyond. The authors were located throughout the first floor of the library, and readers, young and old, were there to take part in the literary event.
Janet says she is always glad to meet both her established and new fans in person. "I believe it gives the readers a more personal insight into an author's book when you meet face to face." Because Janet writes within the inspirational epic fantasy adventure genre, she's found her fans range in age from 10 years old to 80+. When we asked her about her target market she said, "I'm not so sure I want to limit the target market for my novels to a certain age, but I am more than willing to place it into separate categories such as Christian/Religious Fantasy, or Inspirational Epic Fantasy. Adventure is another key word my fans like to use, so I've even tagged the Hidden Earth Series with such." The Leesburg Author Showcase was the debut point for Janet to release the titles of her next 5 novels. This brought excitement and interest to those who are already enthralled with the series and those who were looking for something new in the genre.
Janet and her sister Dar Bagby have big plans for the series. To find out more simply visit the HiddenEarthSeries.com website and "click" around...there are plenty of pages to choose from.

Bring in New Fans!
September 6, 2012
Author Janet Beasley, and Illustrator Dar Bagby (left) have found a way to appease their fans when they're unable to be together at a show. All it takes is Wifi and Skype!
Janet, due to a family medical emergency, was unable to make the Michigan Mini Tour, but that didn't stop this dynamic sister team from spreading the word about their inspirational epic fantasy adventure Maycly. By using Skype, Janet was able to "be a part" and meet their new fans and say hello to some established fans. "It was really cool. I wanted to be 2 places at one time...and even the best fantasy authors haven't figured that one out yet. So after some thinking, I thought to myself..."Why not Skpye? Just like we do when we're working on editing and such for the Hidden Earth Series?" said Janet with a huge smile on her face! "It was so cool to surprise fans that didn't know I was 'at the table or in the room' with Dar. I think it even helped bring in new fans that may have otherwise passed us by."
You'll see Janet in the "picture in picture" feature while showing the crowd the Hidden Earth Series website.
Dar conversed with Janet before the tour and decided upon which baked goods (pictured right) she would bake n' take to the signings. Fans were happy to get their first taste of samples from the upcoming cook book of Maycly, "More Than Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup." The sweet treats were only a fraction of the full scale cook book slated for release sometime this fall if all goes well. The cook book will include not just recipes, but also menus and histories of the owners and restaurants on Maycly. An YES...it's all pre-parable and edible right here on EARTH. Their third "partner in crime" is Connie Thompson (seated). Connie is their professional graphic designer and layout artist for The Hidden Earth Series. She enjoys tending the book tables at shows along with the gals. Together this threesome of artists is hard to beat! Connie is also an author and avid birder. You may enjoy her novel A Fascination with Feathers.
Both Janet & Dar hope to be together for many shows to come, but now they know, if they can't it's a must to Skype.

Fall 2012 Authors
About the Author:
Janet Beasley, author of The Hidden Earth Series (a six novel series), is successfully carving her niche` in the inspirational epic fantasy genre for middle grades and YAs. Even the young at heart are enjoying the escape her writing style presents. Her debut novel, Maycly, raised to #8 on the Amazon Religious Fiction charts during a recent promotion. By appearing at local and out-of-state events, book signings, and speaking engagements, audiences are now perking up when they hear this author’s name…and it’s not just for her fantasy novels. Janet works with her sister and full time illustrator, Dar Bagby, to create more than just stories. Volume 1 Maycly Parts 1, 2, and 3 expands by leaps and bounds with two companion books (a full color illustration book and a cook book), as well as an online memorabilia shop, and amazingly enough – gourmet dog treats. Janet is multi-talented when it comes to her creativity. She excels in multi-media, has developed a training center and its curriculum for AV technicians, and produced – directed – and served as a theater technician. She has written fiction - non-fiction – stage plays - and an autobiography. She has crafted award winning poetry, been published in trade specific magazines, and is currently studying the ropes of expanding the family business into a publishing company for authors of photography / coffee table books. Janet enjoys the outdoors by kayaking and hiking with her husband, and photographing nature. She also loves animals (dogs are her favorite), spending time with her family, and baking cupcakes.
Maycly Volume 1 Parts 1, 2, and 3 of the six-volume series Hidden Earth, is an inspirational epic fantasy that takes you on the journey of Iona, a girl in her twenties on Earth, who “has it all” and “loses it all,” nearly giving up on life altogether. She has never questioned her trust in the Grand Wizard, SUL, but when she develops multiple chronic illnesses, loses her wealth, and is forced to deal with the mysterious disappearance of her last three living family members, she chooses to believe that SUL no longer exists. Refusing to ask SUL for guidance, Iona is determined to find her family on her own; however, SUL has other plans for her. When a very special puppy shows up on Iona’s doorstep, things begin to change. The story explodes, taking you to the captivating world of Maycly 100 years prior, setting the stage for their queen’s hopeful arrival. The novel is full of twists and turns, monumental battles, and illustrations of never before seen flora and fauna. Tag along with Iona and her band of newfound friends as she discovers her destiny, faces a myriad of dangers, and continues searching for her family. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, maybe even say “aww.” But best of all, no matter your age, you’ll find characters, Earthly and/or Mayclysian, with whom you can relate.

Pickford Library PAL Center
Dar Bagby, illustrator for Author Janet Beasley's Hidden Earth Series made an appearance at the Pickford Library PAL Center and was a hit with all of her artwork!
To add to the fun for those who stopped by the "Maycly" display, they had the opportunity to Skype with Author Janet Beasley, live! Janet said, "It was our first attempt of being together at a show while being at the mercy of technology...and it worked beautifully!" She went on to say that saying a friendly "hello" from Dar's laptop to passers by was such a cool experience. She got to meet some of their established fans as well as be introduced to new ones, right along with Dar.
Several great things came from the show: Branch Manager, Ann Marie, has offered to read - review - and nominate "Maycly" for consideration to appear on the top list for YALSA. A new YA fan put into motion the arrangements for a field trip to attend Dar and Janet's presentation of "Maycly" at Bayliss Library in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on August 30, 2012. CBS Money Talk
JLB Creatives author Janet Beasley likes to give back to her fans. How does she do this? By allowing interested peeps to download and use her scenic nature photography in their articles, on their blogs, on their websites, for business cards, church bulletins, brochures, and so much more, all for free.
Her act of generosity recently paid off when she received a Google Alert that CBS News / MoneyTalk reporter Laura Vanderkam had selected one of her photos to use in their article titled: The not-so-overworked American. (below)
Plenty of time (Photo courtesy flickr user Janet Beasley = JLB Creatives)(MoneyWatch) COMMENTARY When you picture modern American life, certain phrases come to mind: Overworked, sleep deprived, stressed out. Perhaps we feel stressed out, but the first two are nowhere close to accurate.
At least that's my take-away from the Bureau of Labor Statistics' annual American Time Use Survey, which was released last week. Every year the BLS has thousands of Americans keep track of their time on actual days, not just imagined "typical" ones. Dar Bagby of Brimley is a literary illustrator. Her sister, Janet Beasley of Astatula, Florida, is the author of a 6-volume series of fantasy books for young readers called Hidden Earth, with Volume 1, MAYCLY containing more than 70 of Dar’s illustrations in black and white.
On Thursday (5-17) Dar did a presentation in the Brimley School library at the invitation of librarian, Esther Waters. Dar read aloud one chapter of MAYCLY, which was released this past February, along with a companion book (The Chukkons Say, “Ye Need ta Be a-Seein’ Maycly”) containing all of Dar’s illustrations and maps, full-sized and in full color, some of which were presented via a slide show for the students.
The books, which are being sold internationally, may be purchased on Amazon.com, and they are also available at the Four Seasons IGA Market in Brimley and The Berry Patch Bakery & Restaurant in Paradise.
Dar has a standing invitation at Brimley Elementary School to promote her and her sister’s books as the volumes are released. She and her sister will be doing three local area book signings (Bayliss Public Library, Four Seasons IGA Market, and The Berry Patch Bakery & Restaurant—details will be available at a later date) when the author visits Brimley in late August/early September. Books will be for sale at the signings, and books that have been purchased previously will gladly be signed if brought to the events.

Author Janet Beasley was invited to the Local Author's Day at the Lady Lake Library, located in Lady Lake Florida. Select authors representing multiple genres were "on show" for a day to meet and greet current and future fans of their books.
Janet says she really enjoys exhibiting at the local author events throughout the area. "It gives me a chance to meet my local fans face to face, and introduce future fans to the Hidden Earth Series and all it has to offer."
Janet's husband, Don, owns and operate Multi-Tech Productions, Inc., an audio visual company serving the central Florida area, makes certain she has the latest technology to display her books in style. From background music setting the mood as you draw closer to the display to creative lighting if the venue allows, Don enjoys making his wife's display a little "out of the norm" compared to most. Janet's ability to create, edit, and produce stunning book trailers adds to the mix. Don sets her up with a lap top to not only loop her book trailers, but also give fans the chance to take advantage of ordering ebooks and paperbacks right online from the show.

Author Janet Beasley created her backdrop display, donned her Hidden Earth apparel, and appeared with her business partner Debbie Armas (owner of Debbie's Pet Treats and People Sweets) at the Cooper Memorial Library Going Green Festival in Clermont, Florida.
The catch? You had to offer something "green." This is where Maycly shines as a planet, and Gramma Hilda's Doggie Delights™ all natural dog treats fit right in.
Meet author Janet Beasley and lead baker Debbie Armas. Together this creative team of ladies offered Janet's novel Maycly Parts 1, 2, and 3, along with decorative canisters filled with the wholesome, all natural best: Gramma Hilda's Doggie Delights™. Customers were intrigued and fascinated by the combination of a fantasy novel that boasts a "real life" gourmet dog treat.
Janet trained Debbie to bake, and introduced her to the ins and outs of the pet treat business during the latter months of 2011. By January 1, 2012, Debbie had met "pro" status to Janet's standards, and opened her new pet treat business. Janet couldn't have been happier to see their family business fall into such worthy hands.
"The joining of the dog treats and novel are a rare combination," says Hyperlinks Media Marketing Specialist, Melanie Saxton. She continued, "I believe Janet has something there that is very special as well as one of a kind when it comes to marketing. I don't see why this series and all it has to offer won't work." Hyperlinks Media is currently handling the promotion of Janet's novels and the dog treats. Finding niche` markets and unique ways to promote the treats has become what Melanie says a great way to make marketing fun.

Author Janet Beasley couldn't have had a better day.
Her debut novel, Maycly Parts 1, 2, and 3 released on February 26 - which just so happens to be her birthday.
Her sister-in-law from Chicago was visiting for the weekend-long celebration. The morning of February 26 she went out to get the newspaper. When she returned to the house, she was screaming!
Janet came to see what the commotion was all about, only to find the headlines in the Orlando Sentinel matched the day perfectly!
Needless to say the newspaper was referring to the Daytona 500 and the NBA All Star Game taking place in Orlando that weekend - but Janet, along with her family and friends saw it differently.
